For decades, Washington state has been home to the most regressive tax structure in the country, forcing struggling families to pay the greatest share of their income in taxes while the wealthiest residents pay relatively little.
But in 2026, that long history of upside-down taxation began to erode with the passage of the so-called Millionaires Tax. This pivotal legislation won’t erase Washington’s economic injustices over night, but it’s a start – and it raises critical questions about the future of wealth, community investment, and what’s possible when prosperity is shared.
In What’s up with the Millionaires Tax? we’ll discuss:

What it says about where we are as a state and what we can accomplish in the future.
